Cricket for a Cause

Recently Mary Mielke and her team of volunteers hosted an international event so people from different nations, faiths, and backgrounds could all come together to build community and support relief efforts for the people of Nepal who were so severely affected by earthquakes earlier this year.

Mary summarized the event this way, “The day was spent with men and women, young and old, different races and creeds, all coming together to play cricket (a game similar to baseball and the 2nd most popular sport worldwide), other games, and sharing food and life together.”

To visually depict God’s grace available to all mankind through Jesus, a dance was choreographed to Michael W. Smith’s “Grace” and performed at the event.  Click on the picture to watch the dance.

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. — 1 Samuel 2:8

As we draw near to God, surrender our lives and are filled by His love, only then are we able to reach out and express that love to others.  We rejoice as we watch God at work in each life that came to the event, for some are asking the questions about “Who is this God, that speaks of this kind of love?”  Hearts are opening.
