Rev. Shannon and Joseph Coenen
President and CEO
Founding president and co-founder, Shannon is both a U.S.-based and international missionary, serving as GOF’s sole administrator who handles the main office as well as ministering abroad. Her husband, Joseph, works in air traffic control and together live in Harpers Ferry, WV where they can be found enjoying the outdoors in their Jeep or on motorcycle, serving as core team leaders in their local church, leading GOF overseas outreaches, teaching discipleship classes, and relaxing with friends.
In 2003, Shannon joined Dean Niforatos on an overseas mission trip that forever changed the course of her life. This former music teacher and nonprofit administrator was deeply moved by the poverty she saw — both physical and spiritual — and determined to somehow make a difference in the lives of those who were so neglected and forgotten.
In answer to the Lord’s directive to “be a voice for those who have no voice,” she helped establish GOF and now works to meet physical and spiritual needs around the world by sharing the stories of war-torn and persecuted nations, working with donors, providing administrative services to GOF Missionaries and speaking to churches and groups about what the Lord is doing globally.
Shannon is a licensed minister through Pray-Tell Ministries, is currently enrolled in a Masters of Divinity program through the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and is an accomplished administrator, teacher and speaker with more than 20 years nonprofit and ministry experience.
