There is a cycle of poverty that can stem from religious persecution where it is perfectly acceptable to deny jobs to Christians, thereby holding adults to servant positions where mistreatment, abuse, and rape is not uncommon. While parents long for their children to have a better stance in life, the struggle to provide food and shelter trumps paying school fees for their children.
